Amendments took the wind out of Bar Council
LoyarBurok | It’s veteran lawyer Karpal Singh’s turn to weigh in on the current debate regarding the Bar Council. He said the Bar Council’s reticence to stand up on issues can be traced to the 1970s when amendments were made to the Legal Profession Act, stipulating that those holding office in political parties and trade unions could not be elected to the Council. He agreed with Edmund Bon that the Council is toothless against the government.
