Today, the global expectation is that companies must take active steps to uphold human rights while mitigating adverse impacts on human rights stemming from their business operations. As such, there has been heightened interest among Southeast Asian companies in the operationalisation of human rights. Sustainability officers and implementers often seek new knowledge to build on existing corporate practices to act consistently with human rights. At the same time, there is a strong drive by governments to enact new and stricter regulations for companies to assess, monitor, and report on their human rights impacts.

To assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), we have, together with several experts, put together a guide on implementing human rights in the operations of SMEs. The GuideKit contains key texts, tools, and case studies that can be an easy-to-use reference for implementers. The GuideKit’s thematic areas of focus are on the environment and labour.

This project appears to be the first initiative of its kind in Southeast Asia. It is a not-for-profit initiative, and the GuideKit will be available online and in hard copies without charge.

We will launch the GuideKit on 20 August 2022 and we would like you to join us. Details of the launch are as follows:
