JOSHUA TAY H’NG FOONG

Senior Advocate

Joshua completed his law degree in 2011 and obtained his Certificate in Legal Practice the following year. He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2013.

Joshua specialises in the area of criminal law which has always been the subject of his interest. His choice is rooted in his firm belief that every person is entitled to a free and fair trial and that the death penalty is a form of cruel, inhumane and degrading form of punishment.

Joshua has appeared as solicitor and counsel in criminal trials and appeals involving white-collar elements (such as corruption, cheating, breach of trust and stock market manipulation), terrorism, firearms, murder, dangerous drugs, fatal accidents and immigration.

With regard to tax law, Joshua is currently advising two clients – an investment company and a medical practice – on a tax-based corporate dispute and a tax investigation being conducted by the authorities. In the area of public interest litigation against law enforcement agencies, Joshua is frequently instructed to handle the criminal law elements of the briefs.
